Help Liberia Foundation Receives Donations From Apollo Film

In a bid to assist Help Liberia Foundation implement its vocational education programs, Apollo Film LLC donated some items to the Foundation on May 5, 2006.

The donations, which comprised seven used typewriters and twelve electric calculators, were presented to the Foundation by Mr. Krzysztof Glut, on behalf of Apollo Film LLC.

Apollo Film LLC, the owner of a chain of cinemas in Poland, is a Polish firm whose main goal is to popularize film culture. The company provides cinemas with different movies. It also organizes great artistic events, like first-night movie performances and film festivals. The company’s headquarters are located in Krakow, Poland.

Generally, the company operates in four market areas – cinema, real estates, organization of cultural events and multimedia, and its operations are spread in four voiewodships: Malopolskie, Podkarpackie, Swietokrzyskie and Mazowieckie.

“We read your announcement on the NGO website, about needing typewriters and other materials, and this is our way of helping your Foundation.” Remarked Mr. Glut.

Receiving the items from Mr. Glut, Mr. Paul Yeenie Harry, the Executive Director of the Foundation, remarked, “On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Management Team of the Foundation, I want to thank your firm for the donations. Your donations will help us to implement our vocational education programs in Liberia.”

The typewriters will be used to start typing classes, which the Foundation is planning to run in Liberia soon. Typewriters are still in a great demand in Liberia, as there is still no electricity as a result of the fourteen-year civil war that just ended. To use computers generators are needed. It is expensive and only few institutions can afford it, especially in smaller cities and in the interior.

The Foundation believes that it will be able to collect a good number of typewriters for individuals and institutions in Poland, as in Poland, typewriters are no longer in use.

Help Liberia Foundation appeals to all institutions and people of good will to help the Foundation with typewriters, sewing machines, toys, books and other educational materials.
