The Christmas Message

Posted by Help Liberia Foundation on December 25, 2006

As we come to this time of the year, almost the entire world is reflecting on the Cross and what it means to the existence of mankind. The Cross is meanly about giving.

The Cross signifies what love is capable of doing. Love gives; it does not hold back. For God so loved us that He gave Jesus to die as a ransom for us. It’s love that got Jesus to go through the excruciating pain and subsequent shameless death on the Golgotha Hill.

Jesus gave Himself for us. His giving himself gives us life. He said that he came so that we might have life, and have it abundantly. If there had not been love, there would have been no giving; and if there had been no giving, there would not be life. Simple!

We all must give something to make life, because we all have something to give. We may not be like God to give our only teen, but we could give something else. We may not be like the widow who gave the only two mites she had, but we still have something to give.

To quote Mrs. Barbara Bush, “Some people give time, some money, some their skills and connections, some literally give their life’s blood. But everyone has something to give.”

The words of Winston Churchill is also worth mentioning: “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

May reflecting on the Cross cause the spirit of love, which engenders giving, to increase in power in our lives.

At this juncture, we, on behalf of the foundation and the Liberian people, especially the children, wish to extend MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A FULFILLING NEW YEAR to all our sponsors, as well as to all those who are helping the foundation, one way or another.
