Posted by Help Liberia Foundation on March 09, 2008

The Executive Director of Help Liberia Foundation, Mr. Paul Yeenie Harry, has held a number of consultative meetings with the parents and staff of the school since his arrival in Liberia.

In all the meetings, Mr. Harry thanked the parents for their moral and other supports to the school, and stressed the need for the parents and the staff to continuously work together for the betterment of the school and the kids and, by extension, Liberia. He also, besides commenting on the goals of Help Liberia Foundation, revealed and explained some of the plans of the school. Among other things, the Executive Director revealed that the Foundation plans to purchase a sizable amount of land – about four to six acres – for the construction of a center to be known as the Help Liberia Foundation Center.

Mr. Harry explained that the center, when built, will contain the regular school, a reading room, a vocational training section, which will comprise tailoring classes, typing classes, computer-literacy classes, a Bible correspondence office, etc. He intimated to the parents and the staff of the school that the Foundation has already collected a several sewing machines, type-writers, etc., and they are being kept in the Foundation’s storerooms in Europe.

The parents, on the other hand, through the President of the Parent-Teacher Association (P-T.A) of the school, Mr. Suku, thanked Mr. Harry and the executives of Help Liberia Foundation, as well as the sponsors, for creating the condition that is helping their children to go to school free in a country where unemployment is high and the cost of living keeps climbing. They appealed to the Foundation to seek sponsors for the other children who do not have sponsorship at present and to construct the center that will enable their children to learn other skills besides the regular academic aspect. They also expressed their commitment to identifying with the school in all its programs.

The staff, too, expressed appreciation to Mr. Harry, the Foundation and the sponsors for the great humanitarian work they are doing in the lives of scores of parents and their kids, and admonished them to continue the effort. They also thanked the Foundation for accepting them to be part of the Help Liberia Foundation dream by virtue of their employment with the school.
